Answer» Hi folks, FIRSTLY please excuse my ignorance! I have been given a computer by a friend running windows xp, the PROBLEM is the performance is really slow and i think its all cacked up with my friends files, programs and such. What i really want to do is totally FORMAT the hard drive and start afresh, but i dont have the windows restore disks or ANY OPERATING system software. Is there any way i can erase everything without losing my operating system, without any disks? ( cant afford to buy them at PRESENT!) Thanks for your help. (ps i have done all the defragging and scandisk stuff but the performance still sucks)Nope. Can't be done.
