Answer» I'm still trying to figure out why my browsing is so slow. I just noticed today that before I put my password in it said 50 unread email and the said 2 programs running. I'd like to see what these are and stop them as this may be part of the problem? I've been deleting spyware, resetting internet connections, MODEMS and repairing browsers but I'm sure this may help. I 'm using XP with IE7You will not be able to check with out logging in... So login, go the run command and type msconfig hit enter and go to the stratup tab (last one on the right. Everything with a check mark in the box starts when the computer starts. To stop them from starting when the computer starts just un-check them. Be very careful what you un-check some are vital for the computer to start. You can also go to the start button , programs , startup and make sure that folder is empty. Have you done any cleaning of your machine lately, if not try running something like CCLEANER, delete all cookies, defrag your hard drive etc. If you have not done any of the above cleaning I would recommend doing that FIRST emptying the startup folder and see how your machine runs before going into msconfig.
