Answer» I just bought three dell desktops, with built in wireless cards. If I connect one of them (computer A) to my modem to get internet, how do I wirelessly connect the other two computers so that they can access the internet through computer A?
I dont have a wireless router yet, so I cant run all three computers from a wireless router, and thats why I want to do it the other WAY. Once I get a wireless router, MAYBE Ill try to connect them to the wireless router, but for now how do I connect them wirelessly through computer A so that they can access the internet? You'll need a wireless router....
Or you can search for an unsecured wireless connection in your neighborhood. Of course, you won't be connecting via Computer A...unless you have a router.i know that it is possible to have one computer as the intenet gateway and have the other computers access the internet. IM just wondering how to do that You can't. As Saviour Said, you need a Wireless Router.the only way to do so would be to have the gateway computer have two network cards installed, and somehow configure the wireless card as a network bridge as WELL as a Ad-hoc AP. the other network card would be a STANDARD 10/100 ethernet and plug into your internet modem (cable or whatnot).
It's a million times easier just to get a cheap wireless router, though.
a MILLION.
times.
har... I mean, easier.Oh okay, so then I run the router setup on each computer, correct? But how does each computer get the IP address of the router? Anyway, once that is done, do I run the network setup wizard on each computer also?
