Solve : how do i format with ghost drives(unable to find hard disc drives)?

Answer»

i need to format my computer. i have windows xp and i can get to the boot menu but when i try and format the disk it says it is unable to recognise the hard drive or somethin like that. i have mirrored hard drives i think that is why but could somebody pls help me pls are you trying to format through disc managment?im booting the windows xp disc so im not sure if that what u are asking or notIm sorry i thought you were in windows.I use wipe drive softwareSo you cannot format the drive when booting from the Windows CD?

What is the error message it gives you?If U r loding winxp os using ghost,

make sure that helthy hdd conn to Primary Master (hdd0),

faulty (means to be load os HDD) conn as Secondary Master (hdd1) PL the ensure the conn hdd as CORRECT in BIOS..

now boot from win98 & run the command ghost.exe (the file has to be in cd or select the path of hdd0)

the screen ghost will COME ...

here U have to select the source as hdd0 ( Better chech the hdd s/n)

& destination as hdd1 ( In nghost U have both the option from Primary Partation or Drive (full drive i.e hdd0)

This process will erace all or pri partition of Ur secondary hdd1 & restore the image as hdd0

Hope this may helpful Uit says it unable to find hard disk drivewell u can try to take of your hdd and to put it as a secondary hdd in ANOTHER computer and with computer MANAGER try to format. tell me if it worksQuote from: robbyovery on September 13, 2008, 02:21:19 PM

it says it unable to find hard disk drive

More info would be helpful at this point...well thats all it says, i go to format go through the formatting menu then while the menu is loading it say unable to format because its unable to find hard disk drives. i think this happens because the drivers are mirrored so i mean theres not much more to it unless theres somewhere else i can look for why its doing it. but thats all i see is that part so unless im missing something theres not much more to tell
