Solve : How do I increase Virtual memory??

Answer»

I've received an error message that the virtual memory is low and to increase it.  How do I do that?

Thanks!umm if i remember right that just means to many things are going on in the background or your running a program that is a resource hog.. try going to the task MANAGER and closing some of the processes.. and REPORT BACK to the post.. also can you describe your machine os ram cpu the cards ect. and one of the experts will be here shortly to analysis the topic..

unlovedwarriorYes we will need some specifics. All of that, plus has anyone been monkeying with the virtual memory settings? What version of Windows? How long since it was loaded? What spyware/virus protection is being used? You can use Task Manager (control+alt+del) to see the running processes.

If you reboot the machine does the warning go away? What were you doing when this started? How long has this been happening?Assuming you're running XP here's what you do:

Right click my computer
Select properties
Go to the Advanced tab
Click Settings under performance
Go to the Advanced tab
Click change

There are you're options, usually best to have it set to system managed SIZE but you can set it yourself if you want to. Just make sure that with whatever changes you make you click 'set' once you're done so they will take affect. Also if you've got more than one hard drive let my know because there is another WAY to improve the performance of your virtual memory.
