Answer» I have just gotten a used laptop and did a fresh xp install. I have run belarc adviser and it says I have a lot of hot fixes that are not installed, how do I go about this.
I have been to Microsoft and it says the only update I need is sp3. If I need to just download the hot fixes it says, can I do this all at once? Or do I have to do it one at a time. I am not sure I want to install sp3 though, as I have been reading that not everybody advises sp3.
I am pretty fresh off the farm on this stuff if you know what I mean. I need somebody smarter than me to give me advice. Thanks.
RandyHot fixes are kind of updates, but only for a specific problems present in a specific computer configurations. As such, they won't be listed in general Windows Updates. Belarc should have some links listed, so you can go there, and see if the specific hot fix applies to you. If your computer works fine, I wouldn't worry much about this issue. Thanks, I apprieciate the help. I'm learning but its just going to take awhile.
RandyNo problem. We're here to help Belarc has been known to over report things...for example on a BRAND new Vista install with all updates CURRENT it still bugs me about a Korean language pack Update... Not something i USE everyday...
