I have to take some computer classes this summer, Windows XP Word, Excel and I believe the slide show one, can't remember the name, but anyway I need to take basically everything off of my computer that I don't need and start from scratch with ONLY the things I absolutely need, so I'm not taking up a bunch of stuff with wasted stuff, and so my programs run faster and better.

Does ANYONE know how to tell what you have to have and how to take everything off and start over, I think it'd be easier to start from scratch and add things on as I need them.

If you can help PLEASE email, my classes start in less than 2 weeks!!

In the meantime... If your not wanting to do a fresh install, then just check the control panel->Add/Remove Programs, which will tell you programs you currently have installed on your system.

As for KNOWING "how to tell what you have to have," thats a question only you can answer. Everyone has different needs for their system.

Where did you get the idea that your programs will run "faster and better" if you delete loads of stuff? I installed Microsoft Office way back in 2004, when there was nothing else on the computer, and Microsoft Word runs just the same now as it did then, even though there are lots more programs installed.

Well, sorry I'm not as computer savvy as all you guys - is there just a "general computer questions" forum or something, what I want to do is start my computer from scratch, like the stuff that would have been on my computer when I bought it, and just that.
