I am running Vista Home Basic on an E Machine 32 bit. I have Avast Antivirus (the free edition). I want to run a full scan every month or so. When I was using Norton there was a place to click on that would run a full scan (TOOK about an hour). I can't figure out how to get Avast to do the same thing. Can you give me detailed INSTRUCTIONS about solving my problem. I was not plain enough with my question. I do not want to put the Avest antivirus 4.8 Home on a schedule. I want it to do a full scan of my computer. When I right click on Avast icon I get a panel with a number of items on it, one of which is "open" When I click on "open" I get a panel that says: "test of memory and startup". It seems to run that and disappears. What I want is for Avast antivirus to run a full scan but I have been unable to find the command to get this done. Help Thanks Bob Right click on Avast icon, click "START avast!antivirus".

Thanks for your reply, however I can not get the panel yiou showed to come up. When I right click on the Avast icon there is not a "start avast antivirus" to click on. On mstter what I try the panel "test of memory and startup" appears. That runs and says "Program will now continue" but nothing else happens. Any other suggestions? Bob You don't have this option?

I did not find the panel you showed BUT I did find the infro I wanted. I went to all programs and avast Antivirus and Web page and details and user guide. This gave me all the infro about how to use avast Antivirus. I should have found it sooner but I just missed it. Thanks for all your time.. BobYou're welcome
