Solve : how to change boot up options??

Answer»

hi, i know it sounds really stupid, but i was experimenting and TRYING to install a version of windows on someone elses hard drive, and then returned the hard drive to the owner. this proved unsuccessful. the reason i did this is unimportant, but the problem that has RESULTED is. when my computer was finished installing windows one their hard drive i obviously removed the hdd from the system and booted up my computer. it shows the options:
- windows xp professional edition
- windows xp home edition
and UNLESS im really quick (less than a second) it automaticall chooses XP PRO (which is the version from the foreign hdd) and quite expectadly, it fails to run.
i can vaugly remember playing with things in the past and finding an option to change that menu. i seem to remember it being in the 'repair this version of windows' option when booting the windows installation, but im not sure.

can anyone give me a definative answer?
thanks,

START -> RUN -> MSCONFIG

Navigate to the BOOT.INI tab and see if you can remove the option to boot Windows XP Professional.thanks, that WORKED. i forgot all about msconfig. i pretty much just disregarded anything that was WITHIN windows. nice one.Thanks. Glad I could be of assistance.
