Answer» i bought a seagate external hard drive for backup. at that time i installed seagate dashboard and memeo instant backup because it came with it. it caused my cpu to run at 100% continuously. after REALIZING that memeo was the culprit, i deleted it and seagate dashboard and everything started working right again. but when i tried to empty the recycle BIN, two folders would not delete;memeo (autobackup) and memeo (eWebControl365.dll, Profman.dll, and Redemption.dll). also in the registry, i found six keys for eWeb with nine subkeys. my system seems to be running as good as ever, but i wonder about the files that are in the recycle bin and the entries in the registry. is there a way to get rid of them and are they spyware? most of the sites listed when i searched, WOT reported as disreputable sites. thanks for any help you can give.Launch the AutoRuns program and disable anything related to Seagate, Memeo, eWeb, etc.
Run CCleaner and let it clean out obsolete entries in the registry.
If this situation is still not resolved, try opening regedit, select Edit-> Find, and manually remove entries for Seagate, Memeo, eWeb, etc. Just make SURE you don't accidentally delete any important registry keys. BACK up your registry first if you are unsure.i ran autoruns and didn't see anything that i recognized as having anything to do with seagate or memeo. i wasn't sure how to use ccleaner and was afraid i would remove something i needed so i didn't clean. i did "regedit>edit>find" using "seagate" and "memeo" to find. it showed a few keys in the left pane and also files displayed in the right pane. also, when scrolling through the registry, i saw other related keys (eWebControl365.dll, Profman, and Redemption). i'm assuming that each related key needs to be deleted in the left pane by right-clicking and choosing "delete" and that as long as i only delete something with the EXACT keywords, it will be safe to delete. is that a correct assumption? thanks for the reply. i really appreciate it.Quote from: Doug Vitale on November 19, 2011, 07:55:56 AM Run CCleaner and let it clean out obsolete entries in the registry.
Run CCleaner and let it clean out obsolete entries in the registry.i ran ccleaner and cleaned out obsolete entries. i then checked the registry and found entries for memeo, seagate, eWebControl365,Profman, and Redemption. at least one of these entries has no name, only a long string of numbers. could you explain exactly how to delete these properly? thanks.
