Answer» Does exist some files and/or folders located in the install dir that are specific for certain windows version? For eg. i need to be able to determine what version of windows is installed in c:\windows. Right click on My Computer and see Properties.cute but i,m WORKING in true dos mode i need to KNOW if there are special files for every windows version or if there is a file that contains the win versionUse VER command. Or run winver.exe under system32. You can just type winver too.I think this ONE will work, too:
echo %os%
I USE WinXP, and that is a VARIABLE, not sure if Win98 has it. (I assume you're using Win9x, because you mention DOS mode, which is not in NT or above) On any NT-based system, the result is WINDOWS_NT. For you... I'm not sure. It's been a long time since I used Win9x.
