No need for all the confusing steps to try and follow at Microsoft. I did a simple online parse of HIJACKTHIS and it was all marked red and I had Hijackthis FIX it. Quite simple really. I had already found the info at Microsoft when I posted here but I was hoping for someone to be able to suggest an easier way. Anyway back to the point. You need to remove ctfmon.exe just use Hijackthis and fix it. Another way... Control Panel>Regional and language settings, then remove checkmark:
