I can't seem to get rid of " Windows File Protection " at start up.

Running Xp, Sp3, normal boot.


Followed instructions here on this site.

I tried...

1 – disabled, prompt at boot to re-enable

2 – disabled at next boot only, no prompt to re-enable

ffffff9d – for completely disabled

changed 1,2, ffffff9d and REBOOTED...and still appears at start up?..what's going on Welcome to CH.

Why would you want to do that? TELL us what you want to do.the most COMMON reason to disable WFC is to replace a system file with a "patched" equivalent to override activation..

SFCDisable? Is there a site where I can download this patch? All I want is to stop, and boot normally.
been like this since I did a command to cmd> sfc/ scannow
and from that point, Windows File Protection began starting up ever since

Have you tried to do a system restore yet?

do you have your windows disc?

Any retail outlet that sells software.

what if you cant afford it?

See if somebody you know does have an XP disc.
