Solve : ?! how to suppress annoying folder tasks message !??

Answer»

I have explorer to classic view as most of US who us xp do. When you set folder icons, or apply certain security or apply attributes, a lot of TIMES you will get this message: "folder task needs to be enabled for you to see these changes. Turn on folder tasks now?"

it is both not true and ANNOYING, is there a way to suppress this?I cannot seem to reproduce your issue In my XP VM...

I changed the folder picture, icon, tried changing some attributes, but was UNABLE to get the prompt you stated (I of course set the view to classic, because I do not use it normally). Anything in particular that I can do to cause this? Quote

hmmm... try this:

make a folder called 'My Pictures' on your desktop. change it's icon to the DEFAULT my pictures icon in shell32.dll.

it always prompts me for this.Alright, was able to duplicate it- I was trying it in a folder within an explorer window.

I only seem to get this message for folders/files on the desktop, that might be somehow related. In that case blackbeard...try creating the folders inside Explorer then creating a desktop shortcut...see if it exhibits the same behaviour...if not then you're all set. Quote from: BC_Programmer

even if that did work, i would not be "all set". i think you misread something.Oh well i guess i will live with it.

it's just so irritating when i have classic view for a reason and it tells me false information and asks if i want to switch all the time.
