Answer» but i am using dvd-r disks.. it wont work even if i try to write or burn OK... What exactly happens when you put blank DVD in? You may need to update your DVD drive driver. What is exact brand, and model of your COMPUTER? It's HP, right? What model?my computer is a window XP, Hp Media Center Edition
say like i want to write something onto the dvd, i put a empty dvd in my dvd drive. so i drop my files in the dvd icon in my computer, then i CLICK on write, and then it pops out with a box saying i need to insert an empty disc in my dvd drive.
i also tried with the sonic recordnow! version 6. on the upper top it says HP DVD+RW (E:) please insert a disc, when i insert my blank dvd it doesnt show much space i have in the disc. when i click onto burn, it says no blank disc was in the drive. it works for a cd though.. does that mean i dont have a dvd burner? but then under my device manager it says i do.. the DVD Writer 400cIf we want to find a driver for that DVD drive, "Hp Media Center Edition" won't work as your computer model. It has to be a model, and a model number, like "HP Pavilion 2300", for instance. With todays computer, it should say on front panel.haha sorry its hp media center pc m470nOK...for future reference, your official computer name, and model is: "HP Media Center m470n" I'm just reading your DVD drive manual... I'll be back with you in a moment. After reading your manual....
On your computer, you have two preinstalled programs to play with your CDs, and DVDs. Both available through Start>All Programs
RecordNow! • Record data and MUSIC files. • Record a copy of an existing music or data CD to use on the PC. • Create customized music CDs from CDs in your collection, or from WAV, MP3, or WMA files. These CDs can be played in your home or car stereo. • Copy and share data files. • Copy short video files. NOTE: Video files recorded with RecordNow! can be viewed on a PC but not on home DVD video players.
ArcSoft ShowBiz 2 • Capture digital and analog video files directly from a digital video (DV) camera, VCR, or other analog capture device in a few steps. NOTE: Your PC may not include an analog capture device. • Assemble movies by capturing video clips and scenes into your video project. • Edit your movies. Cut scenes and add music and SOUND effects, still images, text, video transitions, and voice-overs. • Preview movies during editing and before recording final files. • Create video files, export them to your hard disk drive, to your digital video camera, to a VHS tape or to an e-mail file, and then play them on your PC. • Create video files, record them to DVDs and CDs, and then play them on some set-top DVD players. • Record video files to VCDs and DVDs. • Create MPEG files.
Now THREE very important things:
- Make sure you select the correct drive before recording. RecordNow! selects the first optic drive it finds, but you can select the drive in RecordNow! before you begin recording. In your case drive E (regular CD ROM) is first, so you have to make sure, you select drive F, which is your DVD writer.
- RecordNow! can record only to the same disc type it records from. For example, you can record a DVD only to a DVD+R or DVD+RW disc, and you can record a CD only to a CD-R or a CD-RW disc. I think, you were using DVD-R, so it won't work.
- Lastly, you have to make sure Direct Memory Access (DMA) on your PC is enabled. It may be enabled by default, but you have to double check. Here is how:
How To Enable the DMA Setting On Your Hard Disk Drive # Go into your Control Panel by first clicking on the Start Button. # Then click on Settings and then click on the Control Panel icon. # Then Double click on the System icon to open up the System Properties window. # Then click on the Device Manager tab at the top of the screen. # Now click on the plus sign (+) next to the Disk drives Icon to expand that section. # Double click on your IDE Disk Drive to display the Properties Window. # Then click on the Settings Tab located at the top of the screen. # Within the Options section, You will see a white box next to DMA. # Placing a check mark into this white box will enable the high SPEED DMA transfer setting. # Clearing an existing check mark from this white box will disable the DMA transfer setting. # Then click on the OK button at the bottom of the screen to save your settings. # And then click on OK to exit the System Properties Window. # Select Yes when Windows Prompts you to Restart your Computer now. # Repeat the above procedure on any additional Hard Drives you have in your system.
How To Enable The DMA Setting On Your CD/DVD Rom Drive # Go into your Control Panel by first clicking on the Start Button. # Then click on Settings and then click on the Control Panel icon. # Locate the System icon and Double click on it to open up the System Properties window. # Then click on the Device Manager tab at the top of the screen. # Now click on the plus sign (+) next to the CD ROM Icon to expand that section. # Double click on your CD Rom Drive to display the Properties Window. # Then click on the Settings tab at the top of the screen. # Repeat the above procedure on any additional CD/DVD Rom Drives you have in your system.
