Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion 2x5000 laptop, about 4 years old that just KEEPS shutting itself off.
It happens requardless if I am using my power cord, or battery. The laptop itself
Feels a bit warm, but I can hear the fan going. Can ANYONE help? Thanks !
Try cleaning the vents with COMPRESSED air first...not a vacuum cleaner.

See if this helps at all and post back, please. Quote from: The Saviour on JULY 11, 2007, 07:38:06 PM

Oh Boy, please don't laugh..Vents? Where would they be? ThanksThe back and sides of your laptop have open vents to let heat escape...if they are blocked with dust, this could cause the laptop to overheat and shut down.  Also, the bottom of the laptop may also have vents for the exhaust fan.Run a memory test also. ONE of the memory modules might be bad. My computer has had that trouble before and one of my memory modules was bad. I'd try that if cleaning the vents doesn't work.
