Solve : I believe my work is being sabotaged.?

Answer»

At work, I have a Dell OPTIPLEX 360 with Windows Vista.  It has recently been BROUGHT to my attention that work that I know I did has mysteriously disappeared.  I am being blamed for people not being paid.
First,  I read somewhere that a computer keeps "copies" of each version of a FILE, EVEN when you edit and save.  Does anyone know if this is true?
Second, if it is true, then how do I find the previous versions so that I can find out if part of my work was erased or if perhaps I just didn't do it.
If I didn't input the information, fine, I can live with that and correct it.     But if one of my co-workers is deliberately deleting my work to make me look bad, that's not ok.
One last thing, I networked all 6 of our computers TOGETHER.  The original files are not kept on my computer, they are kept on a co-workers computer and I just have a short cut on my desktop in order to access the files.  It is in written in Excel.
I appreciate any help I can get.
Thank You.
Does that mean that 6 people have access to these files?

If so, do they need to have access to these files?Well, it is really just myself and one other person who use this particular set of files.  The other 4 people have very limited access and these files are not shared with them.  Not saying that they couldn't just come in and use my coworker's computer.  (I keep my computer locked when I'm not here, she doesn't, even though I've recommended that she should.)  Why are the files on the other computer? I would put them on your computer and lock them down. If someone needs to see them give them a copy. Also I would start backing up your work to CD.

Do both of you update the same Excel file or are you the only one who updates it?  If the latter, then I suggest you password protect the file, setting a password to edit, but not to view.  In other words, someone else can open the file and view it without a password, but not edit it.

Yep, or maybe a flash drive, but definitely to some external media.
