Solve : I bought a new Dell with McAfee on it? |
|
Answer» McAfee ran OK for about 2 weeks and now it has stopped updating and asks me to reinstall the system. Nothing I've done seems to work to get it to update the most recent files. Usually new computers only come with a trial of antivirus. Sounds like yours has expired. I dont like Mcafee anyways. Try either Avast! or Avira. Its better to go with avast! Its free, too. Download here: The system comes with 15 months free of McAfee. I also have a free subscription to McAfee through my company. I can go with something else, but the last time I did so the system crashed.Trust us. McAfee is next to worthless program.I'll try what is suggested, I just was going to go with what is available and free to me. I'm on the road right now so it will be a few days before I can give it a try.All free: - Avast! free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html - Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html - free PC Tools Firewall Plus: http://www.pctools.com/firewall/ - free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ NOTE. During installation, Comodo will also allow you to install AV only, or firewall only, if you prefer to combine one Comodo product with some other product. If you decide to install Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on, or use PC Tools Firewall Plus. If you decide to install Comodo, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off. IMPORTANT! Make sure, you use only ONE antivirus, and ONE firewall. Quote Trust us. McAfee is next to worthless program. Some more information please. Worthless? Why? It was absolutely...... hmmm what's the word.....CRAP. Completely bogged down the system, and it wouldn't allow itself to be removed through conventional means and prevented other antivirus products from being installed on the computer. I had to use the removal tool to remove it.McAfee has also very low detecting RATE. |
