Solve : i can play dvd's but not cd's?

Answer» I have a asus quietrack which should be able to play both dvds & cds but has stopped playing cds. when i put cds in it makes a humming sound LIKE as if its loading but then just stops.can anyone help me pls1. Try booting from your Windows XP CD (as it is a CD, not a DVD). If it proceeds to BOOT from the disc fine, exit setup and restart. 2. Try booting into safe mode. Does the drive work properly there? 3. If it doesn't boot from the CD and doesn't work properly in safe mode, the lens might be dirty. Try a lens cleaner.
