Solve : I can't drag icons anywhere..?

Answer»

Okay, so I've searched for this problem everywhere. And I've seen other people have the same problem. But NOBODY tells how to fix it. For some strange reason, I can't DRAG icons or files on any window, be it desktop, my documents folder. On any window it won't let me drag anything. BUT, here's where it gets weirer. I created a new user account, and it lets me drag icons on that account. But, I can't figure out how to get my saved Windows Live Messenger accounts on that account, or I'd just move accounts. I want to figure out how to fix this. Does anyone at all know anything about how to fix it?Be more specific on these accounts...does the OLD account have Admin priveledges...the new one ? ?All my accounts are administrators. Then it's possiblt the offending account has gotten corrupted...
I had a link with instructions but cannot locate it ...best place to check is the MS Knowledge Base.So there's a way to fix it then?

Edit: I searched the MS Knowledge Base specifically for Windows XP SP2, and keywords about not being able to drag any files. And it didn't find anything to help.I maybe miss understanding you, but if its what I think you mean,

Go to and right click on empty spot of taskbar, properties, start menu, customize, Advanced, and make sure there is a check mark in "Enable draging & droping"
I was waiting on SOMEONE to bring that up. That is the first thing I checked. It's enabled. The "Auto Arrange" is disabled. Every normal little thing it as it should be. This had HAPPENED to other people.. but they never say how to fix it. Or if they fixed it.Go to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter...
Have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it...
Let it finish and re-boot.

If this doesn't work See Here...I tried that. It didn't even ask for the CD. Just closed when it was done. I tried a non destructive restore on my computer, and even that didn't work. Anything else I can try, besides just reinstalling windows?Sure...click the Link above...
