Solve : I can't play DVD's?

Answer»

Hello, Up untill last week i could play DVD's on my laptop, and all of a sudden an Error message started to come up. Stating:The DVD cannot be played.  Key exchange for DVD copy protection FAILED. On occasion i have MANAGED to get a DVD to play, but it will have no sound - (i can listen to music stored on my computer though, so i no its not the computer), but more often than not that message appears. Im using genuine DVD's bought from shops, not copies, and i have played them all many times before, so i know its not the dvd's. Ive tried to play them on RealPlay, Microsoft media player and Power cinema and i get the same message for each of these programmes. Ive also tried to re-download the programmes, and i get the same message. Ive also tried a system restore, this didn't work. Im using a Packard Bell Easynote L laptop, and it runs Microsoft Windows XP. Any idea's? This is driving me mad. Thanks in advance. JenJen x xYou should have used your Google button:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814846I had googled my question, i have literally exhausted every option apart from this forum or paying £1.50 a minute to ring the company, and have some part-timer read from the same FAQ ive been using. I had read that answer, with LITTLE understanding. However my confusion lies in the fact that i have been playing the same DVD's for the past year on this laptop with no trouble at all. I have changed nothing on my laptop. They are not copied DVD's either, as previously mentioned in my question, all bought from shops, not pirate copies. So im not exactly sure if that link answers my query, if it does, can someone please translate, into terms someone with little computer knowledge can understand. Thanks very much in advance. JenJen x xDO you have service pack 2 installed and all updates?  Do you have Direct x 9.0c installed? If not sure look inn Windows explorer  Help/About and then go to Start/Run and type in dxdiag and press enter.

After this is fixed you MAY need to reinstall your DVD software. What are you using?
