Solve : I can't start my computer in any way?

Answer»

I was on my computer, (a compact that uses windows 98), and a blue screen popped up and an error occured.  It would not let me restart it.  So I shut it off, Like i have done in the past.  Now whenever I turn on my computer it says, "opperating SYSTEM connot be found on any devices, press a key to try again"  If I press a key, it just says the same thing.  It apperars to be reading the floppy drive, if that is any help, Please help me finals are comming and so are thesis papers!!!Is your HDD still detected in the BIOS?

Have you changed hardware? Check to SEE if all the cables are properly connected. There wouldnt happen to be a floppy disk in the drive right??

[glb]Flame[/glb]I think your computer has realized a problem and is expecting a recovery BOOT disk. If you have one of those, then that's GOOD news. If not........um.......try hitting F8 or on startup and try to get into safe mode. I don't know.safe MODEL chose start windows normaly if this fails ....start windows with the command prompt...a:\ then after the prompt scandisk /all or scanreg/restore and chose the last good cabinet files........so the the commands are a:\scanreg/fix      or a:\scanreg/restore...    or load a boot floppy and try the commands ....and when windows is back from oblivion scan for the nasties of the net......
