Answer» i just bought a 2nd hand HP 8200 series PC. i just bought a 2nd hand HP 8200 series pc.He should have given you the original product key. Otherwise, the product key is somewhere on the chassis of the COMPUTER. Often the backside. May I ask the issue with W10? You know that with a couple of simple tweaks you can get it to look and act almost exactly the same as W7, yes?main issue is, was i could not connect to the net. my wireless isp provider & 3rd party did not envisage the arrival of win 10. hence the drivers only partially worked, then failed. they have recently revised a work around though. besides that i felt totally overwhelmed by the interface. like my first day @ school. for me, i need to know the infrastructure, the nuts the bolts ,where, why, how come. to put things in perspective i only ever ran a win 7 for maybe 6 weeks or so & it was a priated copy from the net. but at LEAST i understood part of the framework. i wasn't much fussed on it either..in a nutshell no matter how derided, i'm still an xp old school kinda guy. Utilizing classic shell (http://www.classicshell.net/), the W10 desktop and start menu will be almost identical to W7. SINCE your isp has implemented a work around for W10 I'd suggest you give classic shell a try.Quote from: Geek-9pm on November 21, 2015, 08:47:21 PM He should have given you the original product key. Often the backside.yeah the coa is on the side of the pc. my question should of been structured better.sorry. the guy buys up liquidation items, ie: company insolvencies ,government 2nds at auction. refurbish them then sell them @ auctions,ie:ebay, etc. in this CASE (and i'm perplexed by it) with all his supply of hp 8200 series (he had 35+ in his apartment) he decided to upgrade my one. there is no logical reason why he would do a clean install with a win 10 disk. i understand that if you have a legit copy of win7 or 8 & are online microsoft will update you. if you decide too & during the update ms will back up the old os,yeah. well in my case there is no backup. that's my bugbear. so i will rephrase my ? can i download a win 7 (i believe win 7 home prem) do a clean install and use the coa on the side of the pc to activate it? This caught my eye and an ISP or service provider doesn't need "drivers" to provide service... Just sayin.Quote from: oozyboy on November 23, 2015, 06:58:45 AM funny you say that. i did exactly that 2 hours ago. I'm happy that you're happy |
