i had a virus and my friend went into regedit and he deleted the exe file so now i cant open anything that was an exe file and i dont have syestem restore on and i cant download anything off the net i think i might just factory restore the computer but i dont know how.i seriously need some helpI'll assume Win XP here. i tried it but it didnt work it poped up saying this specified file is not a registry script. you can only inport BINARY registry files from within the registry editor.You didn't copy it correctly then. I know it works because I tried it before posting it. You must copy everythng in the code window exactly and the file must be saved as a .reg file.it says it has been entered into the registry but i still can use any exe programsBackup your data and reload Windows, then. Do you have a shiny real Windows CD or some sort of "restore" disk?Try copying C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllcache\regedit.exe to your desktop, renaming to regedit.com and running that. Does Regedit run? If it does, do the same for C:\WINDOWS\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
