Answer» Hey everyone, I am having troubles with my new computer, i don't have hardly any programs in the startup of my computer only anti-virus and default stuff but i have like 70 processes running at once in the task manager and my CPU is like always at 100% and my memory is like always at 1gig. I have windows vista premium installed and i have a 320gig hd, 2gig ram, intel core 2 4300 1.80GHz. I have done virus scans with Trend micro PCillen the professional version and deleted one dangerous cookie, i have defragmented the hard-dirves, done a disc cleanup and the problem still persist, I have recently purchased and installed Battlefield 2 special forces and the most recent patch for it as well and im trying to play it but because my pc is running slow it always lags (i have an alright graphics card forgot what is was something like a G-force 8700). If You guys have any suggestions on what i can do to fix this then please feel free to help me out Thankyou Under task manage try to end some of the programs that you are not using. If you were using Windows XP I would suggest Run -> msconfig to disable unwanted services and applications. I have only a passing familiarity with Vista, so I don't know if it has a similiar command. Anyone else know? Windows Vista memory footprint is gigantic. So that's not really surprising. If you want some in-depth help try taking a SCREEN shot of your task manager showing all of the tasks and how much cpu and memory they are using and posting it where I can look at it. I'll let you know what's going on. It's likely that everything is normal and you just have a lot of pre-installed crap from your pc vendor or something.Go here: http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/servicecfg.htm, and compare your list of services.
Download, and install Quick Startup: http://www.glarysoft.com/qs.html Go File>Export, save report, and paste it into your next post. ok ill do what broni said and ill post a screen shot for you all, i think everything is alright now, just a bit slower but like it was weired it just suddenly started going slow, I think it may have been because my internet was stuffing up.......dunno, i got ris of some startup programs but yeah ill get that screen shot so u guys can just check it out just to make sure Thanks guysIf you have windows defender you can use it to end processors and/or edit which programs startup when you BOOT windowsStartup List report created on 6/02/2008 by Startup Manager

[file cleanup - saving space - attachment deleted by admin]Are you using the Trend Anti-Spyware component? We've used that in a few places and it almost universally results in the PC going slower than dirt. We've had to disable it and use different anti-spyware tools instead. Check and see if it's turned on in your Trend, if it is then turn it off and see how the SYSTEM runs. You don't have too many startups, but we can trim them down a little bit. Let's start with this one: - Name: MSConfig (Entry that appears when you uncheck an item in the MSConfig Startup group, and will disappear if on the next reboot you select the option to not be reminded that you are running in Selective Startup mode)
Now, open Quick Startup, and uncheck following entries: - Name: WMPNSCFG (this one is needed only, if you share media over the network) - Name: msnmsgr
Another ISSUE are your services. It's always a long list, so your best way to deal with them is to download ServiWin: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/serviwin.html This free program will allow you to print out list of your services. Wit the list go to BlackViper site: http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/servicecfg.htm, and compare your list with services listed there.I think What "TheEmporer" said about trend micro going slow is pretty tru because it took about 1:30mins for it to boot up and load on startup just then after i folowed broni's advice about stopping those processes. I still havent stopped all those services because im not sure on which ones to stop and im not really following that blackviper site. (attatched is a copy of my services that i have running, they are a little messy because i couldnt think of any other way to get them in other than exell)
[file cleanup - saving space - attachment deleted by admin]Either disable trend anti-spyware, or uninstall Trend and then reboot and see if your system is faster. If so then we know the problem, if not then we can look elsewhere.nibblit Yes, it's hard to read. If you use ServiWin, you can copy/print your services in much better readable version. It'd take a loy of time to go through all your services, so I still recommend, you go back to BlackViper site. All you have to do is to printout your services, and set them up as listed in "Safe" column at BV site. If you'll have a question about some particular service, I'll be more then glad to help you.Sweet guys thanks, i think the problem was the trend micro, i turned off the protection and it was going faster so yeah, any ideas for another spyware program? Also it still isn't running as fast as it was but i think thats due to the fact of my services i have running so ill go through and sort em out. Thankyou once again
