Reformat & Reinstall.

this and uninstall & reinstall are your sayings lolWhat they mean is to o the following:

Insert XP DISK
Reboot
Boot from disk
When it asks you what parition you want to install in you should have an option to format the available partitions.
Do so.
After its done, install XP

put your xp cd in and remove the old one ...
Exactly how does that work? Will he see a option on some screen to "Remove the old installation of Win XP" or what? Why does everybody always wants to reinstall?
Just run msconfig in the run, select BOOT.INI tab and remove the old COMMAND line.
That only removes the entry, not the actual installation.Read the question again.

He's installed now XP over old one, but the entry of the old one remains and it will be removed by doing ''msconfig in the run, select BOOT.INI tab and remove the old command line.''Quote from: AIDSkillz on May 01, 2007, 01:35:58 PM

Yep, he could edit BOOT.INI so that he won't see two OS when he boots up. I just think I'd want to free up the disk space taken by the unwanted installation of Windows.Quote from: AIDSkillz on May 01, 2007, 01:57:16 PM

First of all, someone ban this twat.

Second of all, the installation was a failure as there are now two entries in the boot.ini which never should have happened on a CLEAN install. Ban for what?
Does He say something about clean install?
The new entry could be result of installing the new Windows into the old ones directory!
Open boot.ini in msconfig and look at the destinations of entry, if they are the same just delete it but if they are different? Then delete the old one AND its directory.
