I like to make ICONS so i D/L'd an icon program that manages ico lib's, i forget the name...when I uninstalled it it took the IE icon from the desktop, (you know, the one you can r click and it brings up internet properties) anyways..I have searched and searched and can't find it, anyone know where i can make a copy/ or how to do it? [emailprotected]ou8i8uo......you are trying to replace the internet EXPLORER icon on your desktop........click start /all programs/ find the internet explore icon and right click on it and select .......send to.....desktop (create SHORTCUT)
and it should be back.

let us know
dl65 I don't want to make a regular shortcut, it's that special one I want. The one you right clik and get internet properties with. It's not a regular shortcut, I don't think its a shortcut at all. I've looked in Windows, system, system32 even the recycle bin. Searched C even. any Ideas?ou8i8uo.....well, if I right click on the internet explorer icon on my desktop and then select properties they are there ......perhaps you have some other issue going on .
when you right click on any of the other icons on your desktop do you have the properties at the bottom of your list ?
let us know.

dl65 Open Internet Explorer, and go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and scroll down to Navigation. Put a check-mark in "Show IE icon on the desktop." click Apply and OK.

Right-click on the icon, now on your desktop, and open the Properties.

Or did you just hide your desktop icons?Mac......Unless I read his post wrong his problem isn't getting the IE icon back on his desktop ...he is saying that when he gets it back there he doesnt have properties showing up when he right clicks on that icon .

dl65 I guess I'm not making myself clear.

No, I did not hide or clear my desktop icons.

Yes, If I create a shortcut for IE, properties does come up in the context menu but just the ones for a regular shortcut. Not Internet properties.

What I'm looking for is a special icon. I think it's a system icon. It's not one you can just make.

Right click on your desktop, click properties from the drop down list, go to the Desktop tab and click the button underneath the wallpaper list. From there you can set the 'system' icons.Quote

Well either it is what I said in the previous post or, if you are using XP you can either right-click the desktop, or go to display in the control panel, and click on the Desktop tab, then the Customise Desktop button and put a check-mark in to show the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop.

When you have clicked Apply and OK, etc, if you now right-click the desktop icon you should get the entire Internet Explorer control panel.
http://www.icon-maker.com/hiya - I just came across this site and had the same problem - I found the "fix" in the following microsoft link - it will show you how to fix your IE desktop icon so that you can "right click" and get into Internet Explorer "Internet Properties" window that has the 7 TABS - where you can delete your browsing history etc.
