I have a dell with windows xp. I tried to download my windows vista to this COMPUTER but now it is a all messed up. I tried to remove windows vista it will not let me. My husband is not so happy with me.
How can I clear computer and start from scratch? even if i lose data.

really more details PLEASEI have a dell dimension e310 which had windows xp. ok then i bought a dell inspiron 531 with windows vista. when the new inspiron came it came with a cd of windows vista. I thought (see i am a goof) i could download that window vista cd to my dell dimension e310 to upgrade the window xp it ALREADY had. no such luck. so now i can not even uninstall the windows vista from the dimension e310. i can not even get to control panel to system restore. i need a way to wipe out computer and start fresh. Are you sure it wasnt just some SORT of recovery cd? Anyways, you need the xp cd or actual vista cd, then you just install it and your goodI have both those and tried both of those but nothing. Should i just buy a cd that will clean out computerIf you have Recovery CD's for the e310 just boot to those and restore the system...
ALL your data will be gone.
If you do not you need to read your owners manual and see if there is a recovery partition and the method for using it...
