i used to be able to record video and sound with hypercam but i had to reformat my computer now all i can record is video i hear sound but cant record it ive tryed windows media encoder and a bunch of other sound recorders and still nothing any solutions

btw im on a laptop with Win xp and Conexant AMC Audio
Do you have the latest drivers for your Hypercam and audio card?
What's the model of your Hypercam?  And your computer?
Have you tried recording with a standard mic?Is the microphone selected as a recording device? hypercam is 2.11 and my sound is up to date i think, i keep my windows uptodate  and their are never hardware up dates for it,    no program will record sound and nothing is muted That didn't answer my question, though. Are you CERTAIN the microphone is ticked when you go to configuration menu -> sounds and  audio devices -> audio tab -> recording of sound section-> volume ? 
That explains, your microphone isn't even detected. Did you install the correct drivers?

To be on the safe side go to Options -> settings and make sure it isn't untagged. like that
 

still nothing recordsIt's odd how it wasn't there in the first place.. Like I asked before, did you install the proper drivers? Is this a webcam, videocamera or a photocamera? Is the microphone built-in? yea once a month i reformat and install fresh from the  install CDS and this is the first time this has happend
you think if i deleat my sound settings in device manager and restart it might redo them

i might have removed the mic input and output messing around with it If you reformat your HDDs on a monthly basis you should consider looking into NORTON Ghost or Acronis True Image.. Saves a lot of time and trouble. Quote from: JohnnyS on April 18, 2007, 08:50:44 PM

Windows doesn't notify you of new drivers.  At least, it's never notified me of any.  For your sound driver, you'll need to check your computer manufacturer's site.

This Hypercam you're using...is it the HyperCam software?  If so, you can update to a newer version or check out the FAQ, but I don't think it's part of the problem.
