Solve : I need to see what is taking up space on my hard drive.?

Answer»

Hi,
I have a laptop computer with windows vista it has 31 gigabytes on the C drive and I only have 574 MB of free SPACE. I have already defraged and used the disk clean up but can't seem to free up enough space. What is taking up so much space? Can I see everything that is taking up space so I can delete some of it. I already looked at all my programs that are INSTALLED and it only adds up to a little over 2 gigs. Can any one help me to free up some space?

Thank YouProbably system restore. Download treesize and find out for sure (http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/index.shtml)

Regardless of the answer, your hard drive is small by current standards. You might want to consider a larger driver. Quote from: sharper22 on December 23, 2010, 09:26:20 AM

What is the total size of the hard drive?  If your computer came with Windows Vista, I would think you have at least an 80GB hard drive.  So, you may have the option of resizing partitions and making C larger.between the c and d drive I have 65 gigs. How do I resize the partition to make the c drive bigger? You need a third PARTY utility. A good free one is Easeus Partition Manager. While it is a top notch program, you should always backup key data before performing ANY drive level function. Quote

It may refuse to boot at all one day.

In fact it is now discontinued by Symantec. And, although I believe this is not the case in this thread, the last version [8] was only supported for disks "up to 300 GB when the partition is less than 90 percent full"
