I have an older dell 233 laptop with a 2gb hdd that has win 2000 on it currently - with critical upgrades it takes up most of the hard drive - I WOULD like a suggestion as to what OS I should use for a drive of that size or if perhaps there are some other options - this box will be used by a STUDENT to write papers and use the internet - it does have a 802.11g wireless CARD INSTALLED and only word and excell - any thoughts greatly appreciated2GB?  Ouch.  Can you UPGRADE this machine at all?  If not, you could roll it back to Windows 98, but I don't know if that would be the best option.  Before you go and change the OS, see if you can clear up some space.  Remove any programs on there that aren't needed.  Do a scan with CCleaner and remove some extra junk.  You might also want to run Disk Defragmenter (Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Defragmenter).

Unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with 2000.  But I know that when XP is updated, it leaves behind a lot of files that you don't need.  Perhaps the same is true with 2000?
