I may have deleted the wrong THING at one point accidentaly, I dont have a start menu/taskbar at all, I have tried everything to get it back, I can't download anything, when I go to my taskbar manager there is nothing under the username COLUMN, and I can only get so far on things, like I can get to facebook but I have no wall or any of the things on the side, I can get to my profile and others profiles, but cant send messages, did I mess something up?Boot to your XP CD and choose the SECOND repair option and do a repair install (http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=138)I got my computer in 2004, the discs to it are long gone.1) Tell us what you think you deleted.
2) You can try doing a system restore to a time before the problem started.
3) You can borrow an XP CD of the exact same version & SERVICE pack as you have installed to do the repair installation.I really dont know what I deleted, it was a few months ago, I have been trying to figure it out, I have tried to do a system restore, it wont let me, it also wont let me download anything. When I try to do a system restore it doesnt do anything then this pops up...."system restore is not able to protect your computer, please restart your computer and run system restore again" I have done that and just get the same message every time
if this helps any, when I click on User Accounts in the control pannel there is nothing there.
Then a Repair Install is needed...you are missing important Windows components...how do I do a repair install?
