Solve : I think i blew it up!?

Answer» FIRST off, please forgive the length of this and my ignorance but i'll do my best! I have a HP Pavillion 963 with windows xp sp2. The disc drive wasn't working (it wouldn't pop out) but everything else was perfectly fine (i had the computer turned on and was using it)when i THOUGHT about seeing if i COULD take the whole cd thing out, so i popped off the side cover and all of a sudden it went black, then started to reboot. A screen came up that said an ERROR had occured, start in safe mode, start normally, etc. I tried start normally but it looped back to the same page (after flashing the hp logo) so i tried safe mode, same result, tried last known good configuration, same result. So then after trying again, i started pressing f10 several times, then f9 several times, and something came up on the bottom of the screen about starting hp recovery system, and the little bar moved across the screen till it was a white bar, then i noticed it was trying to read the cd drive. So i shut it off, unplugged the cd drive, turned it on and started the system recovery thing again. Soooo now its showing the white bar, but nothing else is happening. Normally whenever its doing something, an orange light comes on, but its not right now. I don't think i even hear it doing anything either. So, any ideas what to do? If its blown up then i have to PUT in a new cd drive so that i can put the xp cd in, right? Also, how long should i just leave it right now? Thanks in advance for any help!
