When I turn on my PC all I get is a blank DESKTOP - no menu bar, no tool bar, no start up menu - absolutely nothing but a lovely sky blue screen and a white mouse. Nothing happens when I right click either so it's not my desktop settings.
My Hp pavillion is running windows XP SP 2 and after running MS Malicious software diags via Task Manager. It found and cleaned one trojan and ConHook virus. I've run Reg Cure and Registry Mechanic and nothing fixes the blank screen. Also ran Norton AV

Have XP CD handy.There is no START to go to Run. The main desktop has absolutely nothing on it.
I'll SEE if I can find a DOS prompt from Task Manager.

Go to New Task in Task Manager, type in:
cmd
Click OK.

Command Prompt window will open. Type in:
sfc /scannow
