Solve : IE BROWSER WILL NOT CONNECT TO ON-LINE BANK?

Answer»

I am using Windows XP Pro-Serv. PAK 2 with Internet Explorer. Something has been erased from my Internet Explorer and I am unable to connect to my on-line banking site. I am also unable to download any version of IE from the Microsoft site. It seems that the banking site is the only web site that I cannot connect to. I can connect to almost anything else. One strange THING. I have tried to download Mozilla Foxfire and have downloaded it successfully, but it will not run---it seems to be blocked in some way. It will not even START up though it appears to have loaded successfully. Why doesn't it work? I thought I might try to get to my banking site using it.
I do have a back up of my system on another media drive that can restore to a point before this occured. But I am inexperienced. To use this backup, will I need to erase my "C" drive? I am using StorageSync Backup Software with the external drive media.
Just one other point. Does anyone know how to save the ADDRESSES of "Favorites" in Internet Explorer. If I have to delete IE, I need to make sure I have the addresses (perhaps that I can print out) of my favorite sites so that I can get back to them after perhaps doing a restore of some type. My backup has these sites preserved but I would like another way to keep the addresses in addition to the backup I have.
Thanks for any help====JLDYou can open all the other web sites and even download stuff but you can install another browser? Or UPDATE the version you have now?

I would be looking for a virus or malware. What anti viruse program are you running? Also do you have any spyware software running on your machine?

are you using ie7? If you are, try resetting it. And backup your favorites if you want to be sure you don't lose them.

See if that can get you connected to your bank site.

Then I suggest you give your computer a checkup. Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware or EMSI's A-Squared free seems to be good programs --> just update them before you give it a run.

What are your browser security settings at ?you could try an alternative browser such as safari Quote from: programming_pat on July 22, 2008, 08:48:31 PM

you could try an alternative browser such as safari

opera or firefox or seamonkey are all other alternatives as well. I like seamonkey and it seems to do fine but firefox supports the most number of sites as far as my experience tells me --> less "unsupported browser" problems or problems where website doesn't load as intended, although in general, all the browsers are ok.

FYI, in firefox or seamonkey, you can install ietab extension/addon and you will have ie only when you need it (browser will use ie to load the page, then display the results in a tab within firefox or seamonkey)

In any case, I suggest you try alternative browsers to see if problem is within IE or if it's a problem coming from elsewhere within your computer--> try installing in safe mode to see if "blocking" problem is gone.

if you feel you may have virus/malware in computer, you should get computer checked right away!
