Solve : IE7 shutting down all the time?

Answer»

I have installed IE7 but every time I open a link in a new page and then close the new page, IE closes then reopens itself to my home page. It also closes down without warning when I'm SURFING the net. Any ideas?
I am using WINDOWS XP. Have tried to download Firefox but IE closes down the minute I click on "Run". A window pops up with the message "Internet Explorer raised unhandled exception in the third part module and should be closed.", I click on 'close' in that box and all windows close down and IE opens itself up again at my homepage.
ThanksWindows version, please.
Try Firefox for crosschecking.I am using Windows XP. Have tried to download Firefox but IE closes down the minute I click on "Run". A window pops up with the message "Internet Explorer raised unhandled exception in the third part module and should be closed.", I click on 'close' in that box and all windows close down and IE opens itself up again at my homepage.
Thanks

Netscape is not a GOOD browser, since taken over by AOL.

ok.., sorry for bad post then Thanks for your help, what do i do to try it in safe mode? When your COMPUTER starts, keep tapping F8 key.
Choose "Safe Mode with Networking ".I THINK IE7 for xp is similar if not exactly same as ie7 for vista. I use vista but hopefully this will help.

On toolbar menu where you see "File", "Edit", "Favorites", etc. Click on tools.

Then click Internet Options, then advanced, then reset.

Resetting IE7 will reset IE7 to manufacturer's settings. (i.e., the way it was before you even touched ie7)

Maybe that will fix your problem. But cookies, favorites, home page settings, etc will be reset so you might lose your stuff.

This has fixed problem for me before so give it a shot.

good luck.Thank you everyone for all your help!
Problem sorted
Thanks, RobynMay we know, how? Thanks again everyone.
I opened it in safe mode as advised, all was fine.
then I reset it as elxr06 suggested, I did lose my favourites and home page setting, but that was a small price to pay.
All working now, thanks everyone for all your help
