Solve : IEEE1394 (FireWire)device not detected? |

Answer» My Compaq Presario has two IEEE1394 ports (front & rear) to which I am attempting to connect an external hard drive. My Windows 98SE system does not detect this device even though if I connect it to the USB port, it will. Anyone have experience fixing this? MS Article 221823 directly addresses the problem, however, their instructions point to options that do not appear within my Device Manager, i.e., changing settings to SUPPORT Non-Compliant Device.Was 98 the original OS on this machine with firewire? Did it ever work?Yes, as to original operating system. Never had occasion to use/try the 1394 ports before this INSTANCE. The device has been tested on ANOTHER computer (Windows XP) and is detected, so I know it's not the device or the cable.Have you had a look in the bios settings (press del at start up) to SEE if the firewire is switchable in the bios |
