Solve : If i re-install XP?? |
|
Answer» Just a quick question, My Windows media player won't start and i can't seem to download it from anywhere. Is Media Player on the Windows CD, and if so will it delete my emails from Outlook Express if i re-install XP? Thanks for you time. Here, straight from the Microsoft Website Windows Media Player 9 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/9series/default.aspx Windows Media Player 10 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/default.aspx Windows Media Player 11 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx Choose your version Thanks for you very quick reply Unfortunatly i have tried Microsoft themselves and they keep asking me to verify ( which i do ) and every time it gets denied I have an original version of XP and still it won't except it, thats why i thought about re-installing the cd but, i'm worried it will delete all my emails and photos. Its like running into a brick wall! Quote they keep asking me to verifyVerify? Verify that your version of Windows is Genuine? Do you have the Windows XP CD? If you are going to do a complete re-install of Windows XP, you will need to back up EVERYTHING because it would re-format the drive, erasing all the data. If you're having trouble with activation/verification, contact Microsoft, they can help: http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/ Don't be put off by the "piracy" in the link. Not accusing you of anything, but through that page you can learn how to get your Windows license activated again.Or you could try going to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter... Have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it. When it's finished remove the CD and re-boot. Qther than that Contact MS directly to solve the registration issue...if you are legit they will correct it.Wow! I never knew there were so many people helping. I have a genuine version of XP with code but it denies it everytime, I was just hoping that it would keep all my personal data and just re-install the software from the cd. Its only media player i am having a problem with. I have formatted the hard drive before and thats why i thought installing would just copy over the top anything missing or having problems. I have heard winamp is a good PROGRAM to use, have you ever used it? Thanks again. Hello! Try this: Click "Start", then go to "Control Panel". On the Control Panel, choose "Add or Remove Programs". When you're there, click "Add or Remove Windows Components" on the side. See if Windows Media Player is checked. If not, check it. Then click Next, then Finish. Good Luck! and keep us posted! you never said what you are using media player for. Music, movies. Personally, I do not like wmp . I do not like media monkey because it is very unstable. i also do not like winamp. For a stable media player try J River Media 12. It is easy to use for the newbie, or very complex for the advanced USERS. Another good one to have is Media Player Classic. In the past media players were loaded with UNDESIRABLE software( spyware). Not sure if that is still the case, but some players are nothing but a total hassle. Another THING to considered, you should back up all your data, computers can just crash, and you could lose some data. Quote Or you could try going to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter......or... you can run Windows repair: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm It won't erase your data.abubucker0 We don't allow any illegal activities here!
