Solve : In WinXP, can't remove choice for 'ubuntu' formerly in system?

Answer»

Had ubuntu on this machine (runs under Windows I believe). It has been removed but still an OPTION on boot-up. I still have to choose WinXP (or wait to default) with ubuntu as the second option.
I have tried msconfig to remove that line but no [DEL] is offered.
Tried to 'edit' boot.ini; don't know if I found the RIGHT one! Removed the 'ubuntu' line anyway.
Still, the boot-up screen comes up with the WindowsXP/ubuntu choice.
Whaat am I missing here? It's ALMOST certainly a Grub bootloader. You WANT to restore the XP bootloader. Try the instructions >here<.
