Answer» I want to know everything about .ini file.... I think this is an extension used for the icons. What icons? Did you click any of the links already provided? I haven't visited the any of the above mentioned links. But I had shared my experience that this extension is mostly used for the icons. Any thing wrong?Only thing wrong is the info is innaccurate...It's used for INITIALIZATION files; configuration files. the Windows API Functions WriteProfileString And ReadProfileString were introduced in windows 3.0 to read/write from the win.ini file. with the introduction of Windows 3.1 MS introduced the WritePrivateProfileString and ReadPrivateProfileString functions, which could write to separate INI files.
