Solve : Input Signal Out Of Range?

Answer»

When i turn my Acer Aspire desktop on, it shows me the start up but as SOON as the 'Log on' screen is meant to show up, the screen GOES black and a message pops up saying....
"Input signal out of range, Change settings to 1280x1024 - 60Hz".
I WOULD be able to change these settings, if it actually let me on to the computer!!!!
I've tried starting up in safe mode but it stops loading and SORT of, freezes for about 20 minutes then the same input signal message shows up. I know its something to do with the computer, because other monitors do the same thing.
Please, please, please help me fix it!!! I need the computer for my studies, and I can't afford a new one, as i have a baby on the way.

Any help would be much appreciated. Can you get into BIOS?I can try...how do I do that? Check your monitor cable and connection as well.

Monitor cable and connection is fine as far as I know...have connected my monitor with other cables & still have the same problemsome one on another site had suggested starting up in 'VGA MODE'.
which worked, I've finally gotten to the log in screen!

except now I'm even more confused and frustrated than before....

I've forgotten my password because i haven't logged on to my computer for months!!!

So I've been told that....you can fix this by logging on as the administrator and changing the password, except apparently I can only use administrator in safe mode, and safe mode doesn't work!

So is there another way I can fix the screen problem? Like using a bigger/smaller monitor that maybe the settings might work with?
I have a feeling that the person who caused this problem (my ex-boyfriend) was playing games on my computer and attempted to change the screen settings to suit his game.
