Answer» HI. I have no SOUND on on-line videoes. I have found that there is a missing file msacm32.drv. Could'nt find on win 98 disc, but managed to download to docs. I need to know what program to use to open file when it asks, and how to locate C:\Windows\System 32 to install it. Many Thanks thebrumNone of several references I've seen on that file mention Win 98; they mention later VERSIONS of Windows. So, I have some doubt that it's even supposed to be used with Win 98.
Anyway, if you want to try installing it in C:\Windows\System32, just move it there. In other words, open Windows Explorer, browse to C:\Windows\System32, and move that file into that FOLDER. Then, restart your computer and see what happens.
Per http://www.file.net/process/msacm32.drv.html: Important: Some malware CAMOUFLAGE themselves as msacm32.drv, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder.msacm32.drv does not APPEAR on my W98 machine. Me thinks 'tis not a W98 file. I think the file you need is msacm.drv (no 32).
edit: It will be located in c:\windows\system not in the windows\system32 folder.
