Solve : Installation errors?

Answer»

I'm getting an error message when I try installing something. The following error message comes up:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000142)."

However, when I go through my computer to where the setup file is LOCATED and dbl-click it, the setup works. Can ANYONE HELP me out here? What program are you trying to install?  More INFO please...Anything.  I can download the setup file, but when I try installing it by hitting the "run" button in the download dialogue box the error message comes up.  However, I can go through "my computer" to where the setup file is located and install it that way.Is this error code 0x0000142 coming-up in a BLUE screen?

[glb]Flame[/glb]No, it is just a pop-up message box.Well, I really do NOT KNOW what exactly is going on.... You might have to reinstall Windows again, but I can't tell you that for sure until its official.... Who is your computer manufacturer?

[glb]Flame[/glb]emachines.upon re-boot hold down the f8 key and chose the last good config.......have you updated to sp2 maybe a firewall issue.i guess you are using ie6..Yes, I have SP2 and IE 6.If I do the whole f8 thing to get the last config will the new stuff I have on my computer be erased?  Will anything get erased?
