Answer» i just recently installed a new cd-rom drive and a cd/dvd burner combo and neither of them are being recognized by WINDOWS. I use to be ABLE to just put in a new software DISK and it would automatically start downloading or updating my system...I think the plug and play option has somehow been deactivated. I don't know what to do!!! i have windows xp and everything was okay until i put in these two new drives. i put them back in exactly how the other ones were. heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!!! :-?Did you install the driver before installing new hardware :-? You MIGHT like to try Control Panel>New Hardware to see if XP will find a driver for the device. Good luck & welcome to the CH forumsAre they jumpered CORRECTLY and on the same IDE channel? Are they seen correctly in the BIOS? Until this is correct everything else, including Windows, is irrelevant.
