devduttaa There not the same thing. In other words if you installed dos 6.22 you wouldnt have xp any more and run EVERYTHING in the COMMAND line. Thus spracht Squallathustra

He is right. Cannot be done except in virtual machine.
If you partitoned you drive or made like a dual boot. Dos 6.2 is a seperate os in its self.Quote from: squall_01 on April 08, 2009, 11:46:24 AM

If you partitoned you drive or made like a dual boot. Dos 6.2 is a seperate os in its self.

But you do the oldest OS first so he would have to remove XP then partition the drive & install MS DOS 6.2 in C:\ then install XP in e.g. D:

Why not just boot off a floppy or pen drive or CD when you want MS_DOS?

No.

It wouldnt be legal. At any rate that is true you could do that..... Quote from: squall_01 on April 08, 2009, 12:09:18 PM
It wouldnt be legal.

Actually, if you hold a valid licence for any MS operating SYSTEM later than DOS, that means Windows 3, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, you can LEGALLY install and use MS-DOS, but the question is, how do you get it legally?Buy it from themUse an image program and CREAT an image of the XP partition...
Delete all partitions...
Create an active partition of say 1G.
Use the rest of the HDD space for an extended partition...
Install DOS 6.2 to the first partition...
Install any neccessary device drivers...
Power down...re-boot to the XP CD and install XP.Quote from: Dias de verano on April 08, 2009, 12:18:59 PM

You can get a legal version of dos 6.22 from the Microsoft website for free.Quote from: Cityscape on April 08, 2009, 09:12:23 PM

That is actually an upgrade for MS-DOS 6.2, not a complete version.
so probably what he really wanted? He could use virtal machine and do it that way.
