Answer» Hey there, Im having some problems installing Windows on my Toshiba Satellite A100 Laptop.
When installing vista, one of two things happens. 1) During installation an ERROR will come up saying some files are missing on the disc 2) Installation goes smoothly, but when windows boots for the first time an error COMES up saying a file is missing or corrupt (It says a different file after each install )
Thinking it was a result of a corrupt disc, I bought XP and...
When installing XP, during setup an error similar to number 1 for Vista came up, saying a hole bunch of files are missing.
I have been forced to be running Ubuntu, which is working perfectly, why won't windows Install?
- ThankyouSee Microsoft KB article 930890Not sure thats the same issue. Im doing a clean install of windows not upgrading. My hard drive is whiped when these errors occur. And the files are .DLL files (mostly), not music files for example like that article says.Where did you buy those Vista/XP CDs? Return them?I dont think its the discs because I get simliar errors from my 2 recovery DVDs, which have worked perfectly in the past.If you're sure it's not the actual discs the other 2 culprits that cause this are RAM problems or HDD issues... DLoad and run MemTest to check the RAM...let it run for a few hours. ANY errors and the RAM is bad. For the HDD DLoad and run the DIAGNOSTICS from the HDD manuf. site. This will tell you if the drive is HEALTHY...
