Answer» ok where to begin with my horrible day...ok first i wanted to increase a partition from 15gb to 20gb from my C drive, then when it tried to boot to windows only the bar screen WOULD pop up for a second then reboot. it says that the "NTLDR is missing" when it boots off the hdd then i completly erased everything off the drive USING the HDD disk that came with it. now the installation PROBLEM: i changed the bios to load from the cd-rom first then the hdd and i put the windows xp cd in there. the cd loads but when it goes to the installation screen it says that the "hdd is not recognized or there is no hdd" ...now my head hurts and im out of ideas so any HELP would be great to atleast getting windows to boot again.
thanks. Is the hard drive recognized correctly in the BIOS? Were you using XP's disk management to setup the drive? It has everything you NEED. How old is the drive? What are the computer specifics?
If you can see the drive, download the free diagnostics from the hard drive makers site and check the drive for functionality.the hdd is recognized on the bios and i was using the windows xp installation cd. the hdd is a maxtor 80gb and its about a year old. my comp specifics are 1.83 MHz, amd athlon i think, i dont kno the other specifics i cant check becuse im using another comp right now becuase that comp wont load XP
thanksCan you remove the partition(s) with the Windows CD and reinstall just using the XP CD?nope i cnat remove anypartitions becuase when i choose any feature on the XP cd, then on the next page its says that the hdd is not connected or is not recognized but i used the maxtor cd that came with the hdd and it sshowed the partitions but it only let me write full zeros which deleted all the info but now when i look at the partition size it says the full 80 gb and says that the disk is empty and to install an os then when i try i just keep having the same problem as beforeCan you remove the partition with the Maxtor utility and then try to install Windows?
