Solve : Installing Windows XP on an External HD?? |
|
Answer» Im a testing geek.. I like to test stuff.. I dont know if this would be possible but here is my Q!!! I have a Western Digital 120GB External Hard Drive and i was wondering if i can install Windows XP on my external harddrive.. So when i take my hard drive to work.. I can run the operating system from my external harddrive.. P.S. I WANT to know if that is possible... or is there some special SOFTWARE.. i need or something.. thanks.Bad plan as XP is LICENSED to one computer, and the hardware on the two would not be identical. Even if it did work, you would screw up your WGA and create a lot of heartache. It probably wouldn't work anyway.Maksim...... Have a READ .... http://www.ngine.de/index.jsp?pageid=4176 dl65 Tanks dl65 I got it to work. Thanks for everything.. Hello I'm techoneguru, my THOUGHTS on your question is that it should work only connected from the system you installed it from because the Boot ini. has the configuration on how XP suppose to start running, so if you try to connect it to another system I'm not sure it will work.Wroked for me too |
