Answer» I got a Inspiron 537 with a Windows 7 upgrade in trade of my old Inspiron 530. I won't use Windows 7 because it has a 64 bit Vista and 64 bit Windows 7 sucks most of my memory from the system (3GB is all the memory). The system will use Windows XP Professional which will only use 128-512MB of RAM (XP's minimum is 64MB of RAM but I will use advanced features.). It is in warranty and I NEED to know if I should install Windows XP Professional, and if it will void warranty. I know people installed Windows XP on PCs which came new with Vista, while they were in warranty.Vista and Win7 manage memory (RAM) very differently than XP or previous versions of Windows.
Much of this is an improvement...if it's there ...it's utilised.
I'm not saying you shouldn't change OS's ...rather that you understand what used to appear to be a bad thing...
Food for Thought.
As far as Voiding the Warranty...you will have to contact the Manuf. for CLARIFICATION on that...
Hope this helps. There aren't any XP drivers for that system, you won't be running XP on it.
My bad, I just found them on the Dell site, I just didn't look hard enough I guess. If Dell released XP drivers for it then it should be okay. Contact Dell and confirm it with them though. They may not support the machine for software issues if it is running XP. Only they can tell you for sure. And there you have it...Quote from: Quantos on November 24, 2009, 06:43:26 AM There aren't any XP drivers for that system, you won't be running XP on it.

Vista had me too much preformance lag. It slows my PC because 2/3 of my memory is used by Vista while a XP pro copy will give me blazing preformance. So you didn't check my link ? ?
