Answer» Hi, Im INSTALLING XP and I did a thourough format of two different drives, and I get to the poit where the instalation STARTS copying .dlls friom the CD, and it stops and says it cannot copy a certain dll file to the hdd. If I skip that file, the next dll does the same thing. Any ideas?
bendoes ur c drive boot before ur cd rom drive if so change ur boot order in setup before it loads ur cd before ur operating systemnope, the cd drive is set to boot first, and I formatted the C drive. Im in the midst of copying files to the C drive from the Windows CD, as PART of the OS reinstall, and it stops and says it cannot copy XXXXX.dll to skip press esc.It sounds like a scratched or damaged CD or a bootleg copy. Does it have the original Windows hologram, etc? Have you used that CD before? Its not a bootleg, and its not scratched....I have used it before, and have never had this problem.... :-?How about some specifics on the machine and the files? Are they the same ones EVERY time?Files are different every time. Machne is P4 2.4 1024 Mb RAM and a Gigabyte mobo a DVD-Rom and a CD-RW Optical. Pretty basic configWell, I figured it out to be a bad RAM chip.....THANKS ALL!
